My husband and I are thinking of Marissa Claire for our baby (if it's a girl). We have a two-syllable last name, so I thought it sounded kind of nice. My parents didn't seem that excited, though.

Please let me know what you think!

Just plain beautiful.

It is traditional, yet unique. A name your daughter can grow with!

(If you are set on this name, then I suggest now telling anyone anymore. You don't want their negative feelings to ruin the great name, as it sounds like your parents are doing...)

Claire is nice but I don't care for the name Marissa. The Marissa's that I know are annoying and/or snobby. But if you really like the name, then you should do what pleases you and your husband regardless of what anyone else thinks including your parents!

Firstly, Marissa Claire is an absolutely beautiful name! Secondly, develop a barrier between you and your parents. You get to name your children not them, don't allow them to influence your choices around this. It's between your husband and you, your parents will learn to love whatever you two decide upon. This is the reason that my husband and I aren't telling anyone what names we've selected. We don't want to be influenced by other people's tastes. Our families will discover the names of our children when they've been born and named. Period. Good luck and congrats!

I think it's a beautiful name, and will go well with a two-syllable last name! My mom wasn't thrilled with my choice for my daughter's first name, cuz it's a poplular one, plus my younger sister has a friend with the same name, but spelled differently. But I didn't care, because it was my favorite! Maybe they just don't seem excited because they've done this already, and it's new to you? Besides, it doesn't matter what they think, they had their chance at baby-naming, and now it's your turn! Go with it, I think it's a really nice name!

That name is beautiful, do not be influenced by your parents' opinion. My personal favorite name is Aria Mary Grace! I really love the combination Marissa Claire though, even though I've never heard it before.

Marissa Claire is a nice name. I would also suggest Mary Victoria. I had a friend whose daughter was called this way, and she called her daughter Marvic for short. Or I should suggest the names of your mother and mother-in-law combined.

Beautiful name! Nice flow, good rhythm. Maybe they wanted you to use a family name (if that isn't a family name.) Sometimes people are turned off by unusual names at first. Once they hold your baby and love her, the name will become associated with her. They will love it.
