Let's say that I might come to London to work for one year or more.If I need to see a doctor for a flu for instance, what do I have to do?I mean, can I go to a whatever one and ask him/her to see me?Of course I know I have to pay but I just don't know how it works there.
Being from Italy I already know that emergencies are covered by my insurance. But I'm talking about minor problems.
Thank for your help.

You will have to sign up for a doctor (GP) at a specific practice for the year. The GP will be your designated doctor that you see first before you go to see other more specialised doctors for more serious problems.
You should sign up for a GP near the place you are staying.

I am English and living abroard when I go home I have to sign on as temporary patient and you will do the same but you wont pay for docters or hospital treatment only drugs or dressings etc, that the doctor prescribes and you buy from a pharmacy.

As you are an EU citizen you should get the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) before you leave Italy. This entitles you to treatment in another EU country. As our NHS system is still free at the point of need for consultation, you will not be required to pay when you see a GP. But you will still need to pay for your medicines.

If you're going to be moving around and don't want to sign up as a temporary patient you can go to many local hospitals as they often have a walk in service. You don't need to be registered with a doctor to use this. You would be seen by nurse practioners who would be able to refer you to the GP clinic if it was neccessary.

If it's only a very minor problem you can ask to see a pharmacist in most pharmacies....our local one in the village does that, and also at places like Boots which is the largest "chemists" outlet in the UK....Superdrug too.

You need to sign up with a doctor as soon as you can. Don't leave it untill you need to see a doctor.

Yes sign up to your local GP (near where you may be staying for convenience) and then whenever you're sick you can go visit her (him) if need be. nYou will only need to pay for the medicine not the appointment :)
