Okay I'm being induced tomarrow at 7:30am.I don't really care if it's going to hurt more because child birth hurts anyways. But I was just wondering how long it took everyone to deliver. Also, they didn't really tell me to eat or not eat, So should I eat something small and light or just eat nothing? Now is there any tips people have about what to do in the hospital while I'm waiting? I don't know if I'll be able to get out of bed because I have to stop my blood thinners so I don't think they will let me move.I guess I'm just asking what everyone did or if you could even concentrate like reading a magazine.Nice answers please and anything helps really.
I'm 39 weeks and This is my second and last pregnancy.I have a two year old daughter(that I'm going to dearly miss all day :() and I just want everything to go smooth. Thank you....

I had to be induced when I had my son due to preeclampsia, I was 36 weeks exactly. I was having to go in daily to be monitored and my doctor had implied the day before that he may induce me. Knowing this, I stopped for breakfast before going in and ate a huge Mexican plate of migas, lol. I'm so glad I did b/c I didn't get to eat anything for a LONG time. I went in around 8 or 9AM, they induced me at 1PM (I was already dilated to a 4 before they induced me), I was in labor until 1AM and then I started pushing until my son was born at 1:17AM. I couldn't concentrate on much, my husband was there and I had said I wanted him in the room only, originally. However, my mom kept rubbing my legs w/ lotion and comforting me so I asked her to please stay. Take my advice though.... EAT!!!!!

It'll be fine :) I've been induced 3 times and intend to be again in a few weeks. I generally delivered within 5-10 hours of the pitocin being started. But everyone and every time is different. I would say eat something light for dinner tonight and nothing after midnight. That is generally what they tell me. I usually pack some playing cards, a couple magazines (nothing too thought provoking or deep, and definately not a book with chapters), my absolute favorite thing to take is a children's puzzle book, note I said children's (like the activity books for long car rides). They are fairly simple puzzles but they give you something to do and don't upset you because you can't concentrate enough lol. Make sure to buy big sis a small gift for when she comes to visit the baby at the hospital (or when you bring the baby home) I usually give my older children a baby doll, so that they have their own baby to take care of too :) Good luck and happy birthing!

Congrats! You're going to do just fine:) My husband and I are expecting our first in June and are so excited. My sister has had to be induced for her last 3 pregnancies and she said that although it's a little more painful being induced it helped things go a little faster. Each woman is different but generally they started her on an antiobiotic (for strep b) at about 10:30 and let that run for about 2 hrs and then started the inducing. Usually within 4 hours there was a beautiful baby. As for whether to eat or not, I would contact your doctor or the hospital you are going to - they should have let you know all that information. I think whatever works for you as far as reading or watching a little t.v while your there is really your preference. I'm sure you're gonna do great and everything will be fine. Again congrats and best of luck:)

Congratulations on your second bundle of pure joy! I was induced with my last pregnancy five months ago tomorrow. I was forty weeks pregnant and having a difficult last month, so I was induced. We didn't know I would end up being induced because it was decided during my appointment. I had been eating all day long and wasn't induced with pitocin until around 2 a.m. I wasn't allowed to eat anything after the induction.

Even though I was induced at 2 a.m., the contractions didn't become intense until around 2 p.m. (12 hours later). Good thing was being able to walk around, shower and even went to the nursery to look at the other new babies while awaiting the arrival of number four for me. Once the contractions started picking up at around 10 a.m. and no longer wanted to walk around, my husband and I enjoyed conversating, playing cards, sleeping (they gave my fetanoyl and demoral to help with that, lol) and listening to the women in the other room to see if we could tell by the moans which ones would be going next - that was fun and of course I was right! When the contractions became intense at 2 p.m.- I did experience vomitting which was no fun- my 8 pound 6 ounce baby boy was born at 3:03 p.m. It varies from woman to woman how long it actually takes, but take pleasure in knowing that your body is finishing strong with a miracle and there is nothing to be afraid of

I have two kids 4 years apart and I was induced both times and got the epidural both times. Don't worry too much. My first was a girl and second was a boy. But they had to break my water the second pregnancy. It won't hurt more. It took me a long long time with many hours through the night. I didn't dilate until the very end of it all. I was starving and I was eating gummy bears. But don't eat because you will go poop in front of everyone. Talk about embarrassing. You will be busy breathing and all. Everything will be fine. Your daughter will have so much fun with the baby. The doctors will take care of everything. They always had to cut me (epeziatomy) to get the baby out. No sweat.

ive been induced during both of my pregnancies. The labors usually last longer because its being forced. The contractions are more intense, but nothing an epidural wont take the edge off. I wouldnt eat after tonight, have an early light dinner, and maybe take a little caster oil with dinner. It will clean you out and you wont have the pooping during labor issue.just a tablespoon if you choose to do that. I did it and got my bowels empty so i could focus on having the baby. My first labor was 72 hrs and my second was 36 hrs. Just stay calm, and good luck and congrats!

you can eat something light. You can get out of bed, but its a pain because you have all kinds of monitors and an iv hooked up to you. It just depends on how your body takes the medicine, sometimes it doesnt work, i had to do it twice. The 2nd time it only took 5 hours after i was induced to have my baby..it doesnt hurt, all they do is put and IV in you and drip medicine, every 1/2-hour what ever the doctor orders, they will up the medicine. Take a book or magazine or home hospitals have vcrs, i took allkinds of stuff buti never did it, best thing to do would be rest.

Well I was induced at 38 weeks but when I arrived at the hospital I was already dialated to five, not in labor but just dialated.

So I got there around 5 and after all the paper work got into a room around 6. They broke my water around 630, gave me the medicine around 7...got an epidural around 830 and had the baby at 9. So I wasn't there that long...and i really didn't have time to do anything to pass the time. The contractions kept me busy I guess.

As far as eating, I would eat light before you go because they wont let you eat. But not heavy because anything could happen...and often times women throw up.

They may or may not let you up. I had to have internal monitoring so they wouldn't let me up. If they do you'll probably just walk around. It is really just a lot of waiting...and if you aren't in a lot of pian watch tv, read and talk to compnay.

First of all Congrats!!! I am truly jealous!! Now.. with my first it was 5 hours 50 minutes, second 5 hours 1 minute, third 3 hours 30 minutes. Don't eat anything after about 10. You will be hungry but puking while in labor SUCKS!! You can drink water though. We watched TV but that sucks after a while so I would suggest bringing a book, magazine, or a deck of cards. You can concentrate for the first little while. And go fish is simple! lol... I was induced with all 3 of mine (1 because I was dilating but not in active labor with high blood pressure) and I can say.. enjoy and happy birthing tomorrow. YEA for you!!!

Inducing doesn't hurt any more that regular childbirth. I was on my third child and I delivered in 8 hours. You will be able to concentrate on a magazine for a while. games like crossword puzzles, suduko, and word finds really help pass the time. and go ahead and eat. Don't pig out but toast or cereal should be ok. Your labor will probably not start for an hour or could be more or less. anything you think could make time go faster should be fine.
