Someone asked me a similar question a little bit ago, and I don't know. I love having a little city where I can get around and everything is no more than 5 minutes away, but I really love living in the country where I can have a lot of animals, etc. Eventually, I think I'd like to find a small town, and live just outside of it with a little bit more land, and be able to drive in to work within 10 minutes every day, but be able to access most stores and places easily.

I lived in what I thought was a big city, Milwaukee, which is around 500,000 population I believe and I loved growing up there. But it was a different time, it was the 70s and we knew all our neighbors and we played kick ball in the alley til all hours of the night. And when I lived in a big city, we walked everywhere.
Now I live in a small town, we cannot really walk to many places since everything is spaced out but if you want to go for a nice quiet walk to clear your mind, there are plenty of roads to do it. And I would not have it any other way. We have a population of roughly 27,000 and people here are so private. You get to know your neighbors and yet for it being so small it isn't like you feel like you are under a microscope. We have 1 acre of land, we have a big city nearby (Chicago) and I love the feeling of living in a small community and yet being so close to the big city and not having to deal with all the crime and traffic.

I used to live in a big city and hated all the hustle and bustle.
It was too Busy !!
Almost 19 yrs ago, we moved to a smaller town with a population of 12000 people. Today, with a whole bunch of condos going up and stores and whatever, the population has tripled ! We lost a lot of green spaces. As soon as the kids are old enough, we intend to move into the country. Can't wait !

I live in a very big city and like it for the most part. I hate the traffic and congestion, though.
I lived in a small town once and it was horrible. People are nosy and there is alot of gossip. I also hated that the whole town close down at 6pm.
I'm used to a 24 hour city. It never shuts down.

I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. To be honest, I love it here, but when I vacationed in Florida, I decided I love it there too. I don't just like it because of the weather, either. I really liked the amount of people that just linger around the city and hot spots. Especially in Daytona Beach. I went there for Bike Week last year (2006) and the people were awesome, especially the locals. Milwaukee on the other hand is a cool place to live as well. I love downtown Milwaukee's night life.

I live in rural New Mexico in a town of 2200 people. The biggest store we have is the Family Dollar Store. The next closest town has about 35,000 people and a Wal-Mart (yay!) Its very difficult living in a small town. I have to go out of town to see the dentist, doctors and I even buy groceries in another town. When I retire in another 5 years after 31 years of teaching I'm moving to the big city of Albuquerque whose population is around 500,000.

I now live outside of a small country burg....one main street. I lived in Cleveland , Ohio for about 9 years. I will take this small burg any day to that of the big city. I am much more content here in the quiet way of life. Small town shopping is cool.......they know you even if you have only been in their store 1 time before.

Yeah, I live in a good sized city. I hate the aggressive way people drive! Even if you drive a bit over the limit, people are always trying to pass you, cutting in and out to gain a few seconds. And they drive too fast in my neighborhood also. I have a daughter and there's other kids around. It pisses me off. The city life is still okay though. Lots to do, places to go, etc.
