wtf ..... I so listen to techno ....

He was probably saying it to diss Moby. Or....
He was being a smartass. It happens more often than you think, consider:
--he did work with occasional techno artist Dido on "Stan", at least to the extent that he a) sampled her tune, and b) invited her to a few performances of his...
--he's *from Detroit*. Which has had more than a few *big* honking techno/electronic music festivals,
--he has a habit of making fun of stuff he *knows* something about....seriously, how much razzing did he do of Britney, Christina, *boy bands*, etc.? And how many people responded, actually, by referring to him *by his given name Marshall*? Ok then. Granted, it was on the album, but still, just the fact that he *knew* more than a few of his "victims" rather suggests to me that there's as much *sarcasm* in the lyrics as there is anything hateful.
--did Dr. Dre actually use any techno samples in his hip-hop or do any "club drugs" *before* he met Eminem? Look it up...it didn't happen until he showed up.
It's a twist on how people who are *into* techno don't call it techno....that word "techno" is something people outside the scene use as a blanket term to cover *lots* of completely different styles of electronic/dance music.
Or....maybe I'm just too damn smart to be picking apart any Slim Shady, and he really is just dissing Moby, and is unaware of deep his own rabbit holes go. It wouldn't be the first time this sort of thing happened in music.

Eminem likes to push people's buttons. That is exactly why he said that. Personally, I'd be more likely to listen to Techno rather than Eminem. Techno gets me pumped up and motivated; I am not a fan of Eminem's angry whining.
