Shade it with a darker tone than the rest of your face. That is if you use a foundation, or a base choose a color or shade darker for your nose than that which you use for the rest of your face.
The idea is based on the theory of harmony of color; a dark color will make things appear to be smaller. A light color will make things appear to be larger

Making a Nose Appear Smaller
You can apply blush on each side of your nose which creates a "shadow" making the nose appear narrower. You could also only use eyeliner and mascara on your upper eyelids/lashes, which will draw other's eyes upward instead of looking at your nose.
Here are more suggestions:
Another way to make your nose appear smaller, and I do this myself, is to outline the sides of your nose (on the bone) with a white/very light liner or cover stick.
Actually you would make the contour or darker color on the out side of the nose and a highlight or lighter color on the top of the nose.
Use a sheerer foundation, and apply bronzer on top of it: this makes things more natural, and often slimmer.
If you have a long nose apply a small amount of darker blusher/foundation down the middle.
Don't use blusher to contour! Blusher is used to add colour, not shadow! In short: lighter colours highlight and darker colours recede. I use a cream coloured matte eyeshadow to highlight and a pale beige/brown to shade/contour.
More Nose Make-Up Tips
Large nose - apply shader to the nose and then subtly blend. Highlight the surrounding skin and slightly onto the sides of the nose. Keep blusher away from the nose.
Broad nose - shade down each side of the nose taking care not to blend onto the face.
Short nose - apply highlighter down the length of the nose from the bridge to the tip.
Long nose - apply shader to the tip of the nose.
Bump on the nose - apply shader to the bump.
Crooked nose - apply shader to the side that goes out, and highlighter to the side that goes in.
By the way, as with all highlighting and shading - less is more!

Sculpting your nose into a slightly smaller version requires contouring down the sides of your nose. If your nose is narrow at the top and with wider nostrils, sweep color around nostrils and on tip. And if your nose is long, just a touch of contour around the tip.
When doing corrective makeup, especially on your nose, always use a subtlte touch when highlighting and shading, as you don't want the shading to be too dark or it will be too obvious.
Cream foundations: use a shade or two darker in a creamy foundation or concealer, and apply as part of your "base" makeup; this method is easy to blend into your foundation with a sponge, flat rectangular synthetic blending brush, or just use your finger tips. When using cream foundation as corrective makeup, complete all corrections before you powder.
Powder or liquid foundation: you can use blush as your contouring tool. To apply, sweep color with a contoured cheek brush. Blend edges softly to give a natural shading effect.
If you are used to wearing makeup everyday, you may want to balance contouring your nose by contouring your jaw or under your cheek bones to really enhance the shape of your face.

my nose is kind of big too! ive been gathering tips about this my entire life. either wearing a lot of eye makeup or lip makeup distracts from it. but dont do both eyes AND lips. also adding volume to your hair on top or the sides is helpful. and make sure your part isnt straight down the middle of your head. most importantly just make sure your nose is all one color and isnt blotchy or breaking out.

Put make up on each side of it and blend it well. It gives the illusion of a smaller nose.

try apply darker shades on the sides of the shaft of your nose and the creases of your nostrils. This will create a slimming affect to the wider part of your nose.

Most likely it's probably not large at all. Just don't draw attention to it. If you don't say anything about it, no one will notice. It's a really hard thing to do, I know. I used to think that I had really bad teeth, and I'd always be like "Do you think I have bad teeth", "Do I have an overbite?" and then everyone would pay attention to it and they'd all be like "Yeah". But one day this kid was like to me "If you don't say anything about it, no one will notice." Try it, it works!

Play up your eyes to draw attention away from your nose. I have the same problem, but if I define my eyes, people don't seem to notice and I feel much more confident.

Just get it fixed, there's nothing that will help. Bigger hair might tone it down but then you just have a cheesy hairstyle on top of having a big nose. And don't get a nosering either, that just draws attention.
