Melodies answer is flawed because -8x -3x does not equal 5x
uahgrads answer is half right x=-8/11 is one answer.
But you also have to examine the possibility that
(-8x-6) = -(3x+2) which gives the second answer of x=-4/5

-8x-6 = 3x+2
-3x -3x

5x-6= 2
+6 +6

square both sides to get 64x^2+96x+36 = 9x^2+12x+4
=> 55x^2+84x+32=0
=>(11x+8)(5x+4)=0
=>x= -8/11 or x= -4/5
