We are coming to Chicago and staying at the DT Chicago Hyatt - I've seen several different variations of directions to get to Great Lakes. What is the better option? To drive up 94 to 41? or up the Tri-State? Suggestions?

I make this drive every day for work and it is faster to take 41.
So, hop on the Kennedy (90/94) then follow the Edens (94).
94 will exit to the right just after Dundee and you should simply stay on 41. You'll hit a couple of stop lights on the way, but it is still faster than the Tri-State.

Turn Right at Buckley Road. There is a traffic signal at this intersection.

The tri-state option is especially slow if you do not have an I-Pass and have to stop to pay the toll.

I-94 to IL 41 is a good way to go but sometimes traffic can be just as hectic as if you are traveling the expressway. However the easiest way (in my opinion) is to get on I-294 and get off on the exit for Great Lakes. You pay a few dollars in tolls but sometimes the convenience is worth the expense.
