the answer I got was 59/40 but it doesn't seem right

x/8 - 3/2 = -1/40

Multiply both sides of the equation by 40:
5x - 60 = -1

Add 60 to each side:
5x = 59

Divide each side by 5:
x = 59/5

x/8 - 3/2 = - 1/40

40(x/8) - 40(3/2) = - 40(1/40)

5x - 60 = - 1

5x - 60 + 60 = - 1 + 60

5x = 59

5x/5 = 59/5

x = 59/5

x = 11 4/5

x = 11.8

5x - 60 = -1
5x = 59
x = 59/5 = 11(4/5)

x= -472/40
