None. As soon as conservatives take a position, liberals attack it.

Environmental issues. At least that's where I break away from some conservatives. I wish we'd get our act together and make ourselves able to stop buying foreign oil.

If that means more environmentally-friendly technologies, then I guess I'm befriending the Greens.

Child molester laws is a good one, though. But the ACLU and NAMBLA aren't helping liberals in that area.

Take out the extremist, from both sides, and we agree on:
Illegal immigration
The need to defend against terrorism
The need to get a grip on the budget
The need to have better qualified people representing us in D.C..
etc., etc., etc., It's the extremist and the opportunist politicians that keep us divided on many, if not most, issues.

The war in Iraq, for starters. People tend to overlook that it was initiated with virtually full support from the Democrats, with dissenting voices few and far between. Now that the war has revealed itself to be the nightmarish quagmire that many of us predicted it would be from Day One, suddenly the Democrats are changing their tune. Except for Joe Lieberman, of course. He still thinks it was a brilliant undertaking evidently.

Timothy M don't be naive. The reason the second amendment exists is to protect the people from their government, not to protect the people from other people.

To the contrary I think gun control is still a hotly contested issue on all sides.

I think that both sides agree on the "what" quite a bit. Both sides know we need to do something about:
Terrorism
Social Security
Immigration
Energy use

The problem is that they often differ on the how.

We both agree that conservatives often have a lot of weird skeletons in their closets, hence the compensatory rhetoric from them.
