What do you think will work out here: Suppression, Letting go, or enhancement, or anything else?

Think of it this way - would you suppress your self-esteem? Would you enhance your self-esteem? Would you let go of your self-esteem?

I think the best thing to do with it... is to enhance it while being humble about it.

Well, it is part of you, so do keep it.
The idea is to keep everything in balance.

For example, if a kid is a super teriffic violinst at the age of 12 and stuck-up as
all get out .... and, in addition, snarls at everyone who comes near and might spoil
his parade,..... that is ego that is holding him together..... but he needs it: he's only 12 and he will soften with age (hopefully!). so it is best to allow a working system to stay intact rather than dismantle it and put ....what? ..... in its place? Something you thought up? I don't think so. He is that way because that is his m.o. for the moment (modus operandi)... and he needs it, otherwise he would not have adopted that stance in the first place. To remove it would be to destroy him. You haffta be patient with kids, and with everybody else, too. (Especially talented kids .... and boy, do THEY have egos, thank GOD!!!!!! Ego might be the driving force that gets them ahead.)

Dialogue (possible):
"He's a spoiled brat, that kid. But he plays like Heifetz!"
"Does he? Good! Let's have a look!"

There is a nice saying that I absolutely love: We often need love the most when we are the most unloveable!

Carry on, woo woo!

Peace & Love

p.s. doesn't "ego" mean "I am," in Latin... like "Aham Brahmasmi?" ... means "I (too) am Brahman," one of the Mahavakyas (great affirmations) (in the Hindu religion ... it is a self-affirmation, a validation of self-worth ... (there are six of them ...forgive me but I haffta go to lunch ...and I will get them for you later, ok?)

Toss it out the window. Even a great man of strength knows it is far more valuable to sit in the seat of humility than to stand in the strength his own might. It only last for so long.

Don't suppress him, let him do his thing, let him btch and moan, and when you have had enough, tell him to shut the fck up. But be careful otherwise he will take control and screw up your life.

EGO GETS IN THE WAY OF INTELLIGENT DECISION MAKING.
EGO CAN DISTORT YOUR MOTIVES. IT CAN PREVENT OR DESTROY FRIENDSHIPS. NOBODY LIKES AN EGOTIST.
THE BEST THING TO DO WITH AN EGO IS TO BURY IT.
