i need to measure bleeding time in rats for my research project.. i can find out that u need to measure something known as cutaneous bleeding time in rats.. but i have so far failed to find the method to do so..
someone from the veterinary side may pls help citing references..

Previous to test, have a certain area shaved on the rats. Decide on the length of the cut. Use a scapel and make the length cut and count the bleeding time. You should have a way to keep the rat from moving around, movement may increase the bleeding or decrease it.

if you have access to books on lab animal medicine they may be helpful. check out your university library.

also look on pubmed.com. there will probally be articles where authors did this and explain the procedure in the materials and methods section.
