About week ago I got in contact with a recruiter to a company I want to work for. He was interested in me for a position that I really want.

I sent him my resume and salary requirements and he said that he will forward the information and have the company call me. (The recruiting office is in Dallas, but the production office is in Los Angeles).

This was a week ago, and I am wondering if I should call back. I've started to get calls from other companies, but this place is the one I really want to work for.

Should I call back and if so what should I say? I really want this job.

Absolutely! The best thing you can do is show interest in the position. You can do this by calling the recruiter and seeing there was feedback or any new information as far as an update. If the position has been closed then the recruiter works with this company often, and can recommend you for other positions. You definitely should get in touch with your recruiter and receive an update and let him know you are very interested in this position.

Yes call him back, and tell him that you want the job..the more you inquire about the position the more likely you will get the position...
It is just a good rule for any job that you want to get...Follow Up Follow up..
Maby this position is already filled with a more qualified customer, but the recruiter at the Agency is prob thinkin that you already have a job somewhere else, and you are not on top of his mind at this time...refresh his memory, because he is giving the person that is walking through the door at this minute all the new jobs..Stay on top of the recruiters mind, and you will get the job that will suit your needs..
Tell him that you have been getting offers, and since the Recruiter works on a commission he will be very hesitant to let you go.
With you following up that shows something about your personality and that you really want this.

yes. it's been a week, so that's plenty of time to give someone to call you back. most likely, it is still working it's way around, however, you will not seem pushy.
PLUS, the recruiter may have not made your resume a top priority and your call may move it to the top of their "to-do" list.

i used to do HR and recruiting for UPS. i've been on your side and your recruiter's side. i would call. just casually inquire about the position and if it's still available. then, this gives them a chance to fill you in on what's going on.

also, don't be afraid to simply ask "i hope i'm not being forward, but i am starting to get some offers from other companies. i really am interested in your comany. could you tell me if the position is intending to be filled soon or is this not a priority?"

there were times when i needed to fill 10 other positions before i could concentrate on one. i was always honest with applicants if i knew that the process could take 2 months. yes, i may want them, but i don't want them to turn down opportunities just b/c i have them on the back burner. however, that is me trying to be a good person...not necessarily a good recruiter....sometimes you can't be both:(

take care and good luck!

Yes you should have been called this recruiter back!!!!!!
when job searching you need to show initiative not the recruiter or employer they have a job. Calling three days later to see where the company is with there hiring decision and further expressing your wanting to work with this particular company and why will land you the job quicker than waiting for and employer to call you back.

Yes. Call back, be very polite and tell him you were wondering if you might have given him incorrect contact info since you haven't heard. The truth is sometimes it takes a while, but more likely your resume wasn't what they were looking for. Or your salary was not in line with what they are planning to pay. It can't hurt to check if you are polite. But if he says sorry, not interested still thank him and be nice. Something could come up later and you could be considered, but not if you make him mad. Good luck.

Call him back and tell him you are being pressured for an answer form other companies, but you would prefer to wait and go with this company if there is a realistic chance they will make an offer.

Well, there is no harm in trying....whats the worst that the recruiter can say, no? Seriously. Be upfront and just be yourself. Talk about the super bowl, too.
