Is it a birth 'defect'? Did it happen in an accident?

I was born with 10 fingers, but i have 6 on the right and 4 on the left. When i was in the womb, my finger roke uf, but fused onto my other hand. The doctors wanted to remove it, but my parents wanted to wait untill i was old enought o decide. IM not sure to remove it or not. The funny thing is, most people dont notice on first glance. I will say things like "Gimme 6" for fun, but getting gloves suck. I guess I had to deveolpe a sense of humor about myself, i wonder what would happen if I went to get a manicure.
My toes are nomal.
Toe and Finger deformities are very commen.

It is a birth defect and I was born with 6 fingers on each hand but the extra finger had no bones in it so back then the docs tied a string around each finger close to the base of it and they fell off after time. I now have little raised nobs on the outer aspect of my pinky fingers where those fingers were.

all the people have 10 fingers and `10 toes
if you are different then you have a birth defect

I have all mine, but some people have 6 because of a defective gene.

I was born with web feat..a birth defect.
also my fingers on one hand did not grow but i still played sports and musical interments..
