The room rates for that weekend are very high because of the NCAA basketball tournament. That is the very popular "sweet 16" segment of the tournament. There are 10's of thousands of BBall and sports betting fans who pour into Las Vegas to watch the games.
My brother is going out March 22nd to the 26th, the best rate I could find for him in November was $120(avg) a night at the Barbary Coast. When there is an expected big event in LV the rates seldom go down as the event approaches.
You can either go another time, or you can expect to pay an exorbitant rate for a room.

I heard the comic Carlos Mancia was performing at the Palms around those dates. he is hilarious!
