okay I am working on my math and this looks like it coud be very easy but I guess it could be fooling me.

5/4cd+11/4cd

do I just keep 4cd as the common D. and add 5 and 11?
giving me 16/4cd
which turns into 4/4cd or 1cd

Please give me a clue........

umm... why does 16/4 suddenly become 4/4? I don't get that step.

It is as simple as it looks and it is actually 4cd as your answer.

You add the 5 and 11 to get 16/4cd then factor it down to get 4/1cd which = 4cd

5/4cd + 11/4cd

add the numerators together as you already have a common denominator.

16/4cd

Simplify to 4cd

No, cd is not part of the denominator... your denominator is 4.

This could be rewritten as (5/4)cd + (11/4)cd

these add to (16/4)cd which is 4cd.

Had cd been in the denominator as such:

5/(4cd) + 11/(4cd) it would have been slightly different...

16/(4cd) = 4/(cd)

Hope this helps! :)
