As far as frogs go I have seen African Dwarf Frogs, Tree Frogs and Firebelly Toads.

Different stores will have different species for sale. If there's something you really want, though, any of the pet stores should be able to order it for you.

Some of the more common species to find are as follows:
totally aquatic: African clawed frog, dwarf clawed frog

needs water & land: pac man frog, leopard frog, firebellied toad

needs mostly land with a dish to sit in: White's tree frog, green tree frog, tomato frog, barking tree frog

I've only seen African Clawed frogs and similar species in the pet stores (including Petco). They grow to be fairly large, and can be kept in a fish tank, however, they will eat the fish that it can fit in its mouth, so you need to have large fish if you have that sort of setup. They are also quite noisy, they make a chirping type sound that can drive you insane. I had one for about 2 years before it croaked (pun intended).

Whenever I go to PetCo, I usually just notice all the mites on the animals there.
