I know its controversal - but. My mother in law had a beautiful mink jacket. She passed away about 5 years ago. My father in law gave it to me. I don't want to get rid of it because she loved it so much. How do I care for it ( yes I know fur is bad and yes I do know how they torture those animals) but please answer.

Yes, fur is controversial. However, you got it from someone else, so don't beat yourself up about that. Now caring for your fur -- you need to take it to a furrier. These places specialize in cleaning and preparing your fur to wear or to store. In the colder months, you will be able to wear your fur if you so choose. In the warmer months, they will put it in "cold storage" so that your fur stays beautiful. Before you do anything, check with the furrier to find out what they charge to clean and wear or clean and store. They might charge you for 6 months up front on storage, so make sure you check first. Also make sure that your fur is insured through your own private insurance, just in case something happens to it while in storage (i.e. theft, fire, etc.).

Hope this helps!

I also would suggest asking a professional cleaner. If you don't plan on wearing it maybe it can be preserved like they do wedding dresses?

But remember, Beautiful furs belong on Beautiful animals, no Beautiful people.

Are you ever going to wear it...if , not , you should sell it and let it be someone elses problem!
Otherwise ask your dry cleaner -they can help.
