I dont claim to be grown up, but you make a very good point! Remember that most homework is getting ready for a test, and having us do it for them isn't helping. I hope many people read your comment and start following it. I'm giving you a star!

Just from reading the answers, it seems their spelling and grammar needs the most help. The answer two down from me is a classic example.

It depends on the person asking the question. For example, when I was in high school, the back of the math text books had the answers for the even numbered questions. we always got asked to complete the odd numbers. Sometimes I would try to do some of the even numbered ones so I could make sure I was doing the problem right. Unfortunately, most kids probably just take the answers and don't show the work.

You are exactly right. I remember that whenever I had trouble with something in school I would go to the teacher or to the library to find my answers. These kids have it so easy. I think that we need to let them find their answers but we should also point them to some good online resources if we know of any.

The questions don't really bother me..it's the spelling within those questions that make me wonder if they are skilled enough to absorb the answers! I too had to learn to maneuver around a public library. The problem is today one needs immediate satisfaction with less effort.

I know what you mean. I tutor a 15 year old boy and a few weeks ago he told me that he has to do a report using BOOKS. He was devastated that he was only allowed to use books for the report. I thought that was so funny. I totally know what you mean. The internet can be a great tool if used the right way but it can also make children lazy.

It does. Most of the questions can be answered by using a search engine. Its almost as though we are developing a generation of people who do not want to make any effort. After all, how hard is it to type your question into Google?

Yes it is quite lazy of them. Even more bothersome is the amount of working adults that stay on the computer while at work doing things that do not apply to their job.

I usually try to point the student in the right direction, rather than just give her or him an answer that won't be remembered longer than the time it takes to copy it.

it doesn't bother me because they're only hurting themselves by cheating like this. If they are too lazy to look up the answers themselves, and study, it will just come back to bite them on the a** later on in life.

That doesn't annoy me any since the child's parents probably can't help them and teachers don't give out there own personal phone numbers.
