The last few days my clothes dryer has started to squeak when it starts up. After the first few minutes the squeaking seems to stop but after it is stopped and restarted, it squeaks again. Are there any parts, places where it would help to spray some WD-40 or am I headed for bigger problems? Any suggestions appreciated.

Yes, you can tear it apart and replace the nylon bearings, and while there also replace the drive belt, but by the time you run around and get the parts, do the work and still have an old dryer.............well, need I say more? A new one costs less than $200

Your drive belt it getting old and needs to be replaced. It's stretched to the point of being loose and slipping which is why you are hearing the squeaking sound.
Actually that is no big deal as far as bigger problems. Replacing the drive belt is just a preventive mainstenace issue more than anything else. Depending on the make and model it will take anywhere from a few minutes to around a hour to change it.
Service call and price of belt shouldn't be that expensive depending on prices of service calls where you live at.
If you are good with tools and doing mechanical work you can change it yourself fairly easily.
A maintenance manual for your dryer will be a great help when you tackle the job. Also a parts manual with the belt number and part number of the belt.

if your dryer is a whirlpool/kenmore/roper/kitchen aid, there is a dryer tune up kit made by whirlpool for squeaky or thumpy dryers. the kit runs about $30.00, and contains a new belt, idler pulley, and 2) drum rollers and clips. i just repaired mine over new years and it runs and sounds like new. it took about an hour, i cleaned the vent hose and insides of the dryer too, to take the dryer apart and put back together. the directions are easy to follow and come with pictures, so anybody can do this repair. i did need a helping hand to hold the drum up while i put the front back on the dryer. it requires no special tools, pliers, a flat and phillips screwdriver, and you are good to go! you can find the kit at, appliance parts stores, sears parts dept.s, or on line. just take down the model # from the tag at the top of the drum opening inside the door. good luck, and hope this helps. one more thing, the kit is cheaper than buying the parts alone and you wouldn't get the directions!

Is truly a type of a consumer-adjustable thermostat? if so, even as that one is warm, and also you adjust the temp decrease, it truly is going to regulate state (i.e. bypass open if it is closed even as chilly, or vice versa). the only on the exhaust is in all likelihood a secure practices reduce swap, designed to close the dryer down if it receives too warm via a blockage or stuck consumer-thermostat. i ought to anticipate the moisture sensor would not be curious about an overtemp difficulty.
