It depends upon the state you are being married in. Some states have none some have 3 days.

The Catholic Church had Banns of marriage annoucements but they were for 3 WEEKS not 3 days.

it extremely is to maintain you from getting married once you're stoned or inebriated and waking up in the subsequent morning with that WTF feeling. i don't be responsive to roughly MA yet maximum states you merely walk out with the marriage license and the guy appearing the ceremony signs and warning signs it and is familiar with to not do it until eventually the three days have exceeded.

Depends on the state. My wife and I were married in Vegas the same day - and we've been together 7 years!!

I think it has to do with old Catholic laws where the person had to publically post thier intention to marry somebody for 3 days, to determine if anybody had any reasonable objection. That's why they ask during the ceremony if anybody has an objection. It is the final time to voice your objection.
