Sometimes the Neptune Society will step in and claim the body. Especially if there is no family or final wishes.

9 times out of 10, cremation.. not too long ago, there was a case of this happening though, and it turned out that the deceased was a relative to someone who was famous, but, since he had no identification papers, ie, driver's license, they didn't find out till too late..
very messy lawsuits later, things have changed a litttttttle bit.
