US Citizens protesting the War and wanting the troops to come home and/or go reinforce the troops who are fighting the real war on terror in Afghanistan

Or

Being stuck in a desert with no direction, not knowing who the enemy is, and watching your buddies being blown to bits by IEDs that are planted by the same people who you "liberated" from a "ruthless" dictator

Any thoughts?

Guys in Afghanistan have their mission and we haven't let that go. The only people who have forgotten we are fighting in Afghanistan is the media.

There is no such thing as being stuck in the desert with no direction. I'm in Iraq and I have plenty of direction and mission and know exactly what I'm doing and what I want this to be like by the time I rotate out.

Since you're not here, haven't been here, nor have the courage to be here, I suggest you either leave it alone or research all sides of this thing.

US citizens protesting something they don't understand. This is not about leting commies into US this is about stopping further attacks on US soil. How many 9/11's will it take for you to send back those soldiers to do what they should have done in the first place.
When you see milliions of islamic muslims on your doorstep - your going to kick yourself for not supporting the troops in Iraq -and yes it is all connected- when US pulls out of Iraq - then terrorist know that they can defeat America too.

Watching your fellow soldiers die is the worst thing in the world to experience,
yet every soldier knows its part of the risk you take when you enlist..this is why they are all heroes...
Protesting a war is nothing more than a lame effort to make D.C. listen to what civilians feel towards war in general..Why not protest when there are no war efforts being done?Protesting only degrades the active duty soldiers,by saying your efforts are not worth it to us..
hey maybe the protesters oughta go to Afghanistan & find Ben Ladin for us ey?Give them something more productive to follow thru on..=)

having a few buddies that are currently or have been in Iraq I would diffently have to say being stuck in a desert. One of my buddies who just came back from Iraq told me that Iraq is a lost cause, and that view is supported by a number of the troops over there. Also, the troops know that people aren't protesting against them, they are protesting against the war itself not the troops who are fighting it.

Even more demoralizing than either is being stuck over there with inadequate weapons, ammunitions, supplies, armors, vehicles, etc. And then thinking about how there will tens of thousands more being sent into the same situation.

Yes our troops over there are in a shortage of these things. Why would we want to send more unequipped troops over there?

Being stuck, not given adequate equipment, being forced to ask family to buy body armor, then if they get govt.equipment and it is damaged, being asked to reimburse the armed forces for it as was the case for one soldier whose body armor was damaged by an IED. Also being asked to pay for hospital care and meals they had while in hospital. Having the so called Commander in Chief belittle the sacrifices by saying that the whole Iraq thing will just be a comma (said 9/20/06). Seeing and hearing the every changing reasons why we went in in the first place. None of the protests have called them murderers etc like they did during Vietnam. They just want our boys and girls home instead of having them referee a civil war.

Hmm, I wonder who is more supportive of the troops? And who gave the actual TROOP IN IRAQ thumbs-down? You can't handle the truth, peaceniks.

Be safe.

I really like the thought flow...
Well they will feel like they had not done the job a job unfinished are you actually telling me that a group that recently graduated from high school (realizing when they graduated they had difficulty completing homework, cleaning their rooms etc) are going to have some serious mental stress about coming home to their families without finishing something!!!
It appeals to the notion that quitters are bad and we dont want to be the Nation that quit. We have quit quite alot of these projects and we still hold true to this illusion. Vietnam is Communist we went to Vietman to eliminate communism. Tonight I will sleep on a bed made in Vietnam!! I dont sit up at night because we quit vietnam and now its this horrible thing called communism. I sleep in a cozy bed made by a bunch of guys that needed a job.
North Korea got the Bomb; because we quit when MCArthur said go. Incredibly enough they are in negotiations to get rid of the bomb. I sleep pretty well even with this EX-axis of evil empire still around and look forward to the day we could sell him a Ford Mustang GT.

If you truly want to know the answer, why don't you ask them, the troops? Drive to a military installation, rent a hotel room, and go to one of the many military supply/ outfitter stores, bars, barber shops, etc, that populate a military town. You'll see alot of troops, and you can play 20 questions. You can talk to guys and gals who have been there. Ask them, not a bunch of people on a yahoo board. Then you'll know.

Our troops have no moral to be demoralized.

They are there by order and all of them wants to come home ASAP.
