After reading David Icke's book, I honestly believe perhaps mythology is truer than we give it credit for. Think about it with some feedback thanks.

For all we know some kind of matrix theory may be true. However in the absence of any real evidence for it, I don't see how someone could claim that it's any more likely to be true than assuming reality to be what is presented to us by our senses. Occam's razor tells us that given two possible explanations, the simplest is the most likely to be true.

Mythology maybe, for example the gods and goddeses of greek roman and other mythologies. The matrix, I don't think so, however I do believe things like spoon bending are possible.

We are in a matrix of sorts but not like the movies. We are avatars in a "program" created a long time ago for a specific purpose. As a result, we have abilities that are able to "bend" the matrix from time to time if we learn how.

for those who scoff, why is that idea any less likely than any other theory of existence?

Even if its not what is happening, who can say without sarcasm that its not happening elsewhere in the multiverse? whats to say that every idea we've had is a link from another existence? The limits of human imagination is uncharted, with anything being a possibility.

I can entertain my brain for hours on this topic... but when it comes down to it, what's the difference? If it's true, then what can we actually do about it? So life goes on...
