Used it before on pipes going from ground to home's piping. It worked but took a while. You have to be careful with and industrial heat gun or you can burn through the PVC piping. Best way is to use a Salamander heater to heat the whole underside of the home if it has skirting. But it takes a while again to get the pipes thawed out.
Once you get them thawed out you need to insulate them good to preven it happening in the future and if you live in a cold climate you need to put skirting on it and also use electric heat tape under the insulate for super cold days.
Heat tape won't usually thaw out frozen pipes. It is designed to keep pipes from freezing not thawing out frozen pipes.

I live in a mobile home and I had frozen pipes. DON'T USE A HEAT GUN...use a small heater. A heat gun will give too much heat at one time and can crack the pipe and then you have water damage.
Use a small heater...we did and within 5 minutes we had water. Ous froze RIGHT at the bottom where the pipes come out of the ground.
I suggest putting on Heat Tape on all your pipes and insulation. All other pipes never got frozen. It may be alittle expensive for the heat tape but it is worth it! You can get it at the hardware store!!

Hope this helps!

Frozen pipes are one of the most distressing problems a homeowner can encounter. Here's how to prevent freezing pipes and how to un-freeze pipes if you're in a fix.It can create leaks because the frozen water expands and cracks the copper tubing. Not only do you have little to no water supply, but when the pipes do thaw out, you can have some serious leaks to repair.

A heat gun is a device used to emit a stream of hot air, usually at temperatures between 100 °C and 550 °C, with some hotter models running around 760 °C, which can be held by hand.

It takes time. I don't think he waited long enough. We were froze up yesterday and it took a few hours before they thawed to break open. And, we did thaw too fast with a salamander! Broke a small pipe. Not too bad to fix though thank goodness! But, we used a little space heater for about 2 hours with nothing happening and then that's when hubby turned on the salamander. After about and hour, maybe less, it broke and water squirted everywhere! Try to be paitent with the space heaters or blow dryers. It really sucks, but hopefully it works! Good luck to you!

Hi, did you use a suitable nozzle for the heat gun?
