I had two big ones, the first was 10lbs. 5oz. at birth, the second was 9lbs. 11oz. I was measured big for dates all along with both of them. I am a big woman also and big women tend to produce bigger babies, because you produce more sugar and the baby feeds off of that. I didn't have gestational diabetes with either baby. It can also happen with petite women. I'm sure your doctor is keeping an eye on your sugar levels, when you have your urine tested at each appt. one of the things they test for is too much sugar. If they think you are too big for dates, they may also do a blood glucose level. I think if your doctor says your son is good for his dates, try not to worry too much.

My first baby was 10 days late according to my due date, but when he was delivered C-section (very old-fashioned doctor), he was still covered with vernix and also never dropped, so I think the dates were wrong. My 2nd baby was a scheduled C-section because he was breech, but he was delivered 3 days before my due date and he was ready to be born, he would have been born in a day or two anyway, so go figure! Due dates are not really an exact thing.

Good luck and congratulations!

My babies always measured bigger. But they were still normal weights when they were born. My first was 7.5, then the second 8.8 and the third was born at 34 weeks and he was 5 .2. I am pregnant again and the baby is measuring bigger also, but the doctor says she is great and developing healthy. I had my first ultrasound at 19 weeks and 1 day and she was already bigger. Then at my 26 week ultrasound she was over 2 lbs, and at my 29 week ultrasound she was 3 lbs 4 oz. The ultrasounds arent always correct.. You can give or take 12 Oz. But dont worry. Your baby wont necessarily be bigger at birth, or be born sooner

the farther along in pregnancy- the more unreliable the U/S sounds are for guessing weight and height. They can be off by 1 or 2lbs either way. My first pregnancy i was induced at 42 weeks because "oh she is 10 lbs" .. well they pulled her out after my c-section and 23 hours of labor and put her on the scale- she was a whole whopping 7lbs. This time when they did an US to determine weight- i knew to expect that it was probably wrong- though they think she is about 8lbs 1oz now and i'm 40 weeks. So we'll see pretty soon here if this one was right or if it was off also! =)
