I don't think he is something in between. With the powers he has taken on he is either going to be a hero or a villain to his people. It is still a little early to tell which.

That country is on the move, and it needs a strong middle class, not a rich/poor division. It he manages to obtain that he will be a hero. If he turns out to be just another communist dictator, he is going to be one of the larger villains. Time will tell.

Hugo Chávez is a dictator that isn't satisfied with just tormenting Venezuela, but wants all to be the socialist "paradise" of the long suffering Cuba. He is definitely a villain that threatens world peace and prosperity. The only thing he has is oil profits and his comical tantrums about the United States, much like Iran.

It must be true that all the people answering thus far work for the petroleum industry. The petroleum industry is the only group that has any real problem with this guy. Other countries have their issues. The reality of this is he was elected by the majority of voters in his country. He believes that just with the oil he has he can bring the standard of living for everyone in his country up. The people there want a socialist state they voted for it. Let them have what they want!!! If we vote in Hillary socialise medicine clinton we will have more in common and maybe we can have open dialogue. The guy is shut out based on the oil companies.
