No Marcus is actually a good name but I do like Zachary better. How about Zachary Marcus, this is just a suggestion. I like both names though. Neither one is terrible!!

I personally prefer Zachary, but I think Marcus is a great name as well. I've only heard it once, but I don't see anything wrong with it at all!

I was born, raised, and currently live in the southeastern United States.

My wife and I really considered Marcus as a name for our son. We were repeatedly told it's not a good name for our child because it's a "black" name. As much as I loved it, we ended up dropping it from our list of possibles. If it had only been one or two ignorant people, I wouldn't have listened. But it happened way too often when we asked family, friends, and co-workers their opinions. I didn't want my boy having to fight that kind of prejudice here if I could choose otherwise. I want to raise a son, not a social issue.

I still love the name. It may not have the same stigma in other parts of the country....ask around your area.

Zachary is a fine name. Most people will call your child Zack, so keep that in mind. Also keep in mind it's Biblical, which is widely accepted in the states, but it comes with it's own assumptions. Many will think he comes from a strict christian background. Almost every Zack I personally know is a minister's son...but we've got a lot of those around here!

Hope this helps!
