Last week, my fridge died. I posted about that. It was NO fault of my own, but does my landlord have to pay for the food that was lost? It added up to about $200. I live in Oklahoma if that makes a difference.

Get over yourself. Your landlord is not responsible for every little thing in your life. It sounds like he already replaced the fridge, so be happy.

If you were that worried about the food, you could have moved it to a friends house, stuck it in the garage or outside (it is like 10 degrees outside in most of central and east America).

Either way, expect your landlord to laugh at you if you ask him to replace your food.

Yeah, why didn't you try getting a cooler or something to put it in until the fridge got replaced? You just let the food go bad, why do that? It would have taken maybe 15 bucks to get a decent cooler to store your food, even ask a friend if they have a cooler you could use until the new fridge was put in. Landlord isn't responsible.

Landlord is responsible for the fridge, and not the food spoiled. Sorry.

Your landlord is only responsible for providing you with a working refrigerator. You did not state how long it took for them replace or if it was replaced at all???If you were left without a refrigerator for more then a week you may want to present receipts for refund.

No...but he does have to replace the refrigerator. Just like you couldn't sue the electric company if the power went out and all your food spoiled. He cant be responsible for something he has no control over.

NO!! Your landlord does not have to pay for that..In fact in my leases it specifically talks about that exact situation...There is this handy dandy little thing called "Renters Insurance" that is for your things..The landlord only has the house insured not your things..ss

Your landlord is not responsible for replacing your food. You might check with your renter's insurance policy and see if it covers your loss.
