My daughter is just over 5 mths old, from month two she has slept for 7-9 hours at night if left to sleep. Just last week she was unwell and sleeping on and off for a couple hours at a time day and night. Now that she is well again her sleeping pattern is all back to front, she sleeps for 8 or so hours during the day until about 11 then wakes and stays awake for most of the night till around 6am when she has a nap for a couple oh hours.
Please help!!! We need to get her back to sleeping at night, but so far, trying to keep her awake during the day doesnt work very well she just gets cranky and sleeps when we´re not looking!! :) Any suggestions very welcome.

i realise that the ´naps´during the day are the problem, but playing with her, carrying her around etc aren´t working, she just dozes off sitting up or in my arms, etc. How can i try to keep her awake that little bit longer so eventually she´ll be back to sleeping nights. Even putting her in a room with loud music/tv, bright lights, etc doesn´t seem to work, she can apparently sleep through anything, just like her dad!! :)

With my daughter, (who is now almost 9) I used to feed her and change her when she got up, BUT, I never turned the light on, I had a really dim night light in her room, then after she ate, I'd rock her back to sleep, and don't talk to her to much, keep everything quiet. It worked GREAT for me, I never had a problem with her wanting to stay up.

Part of the problem is the long daytime "naps". Your baby is getting plenty of sleep during the day and doesn't need to sleep so much at night. Try gently keeping her awake during the day and when you put her down at night don't pick her up just because she cries. Try leving her a little longer each night and the crying will eventually abate and she will get back into a nightime sleeping pattern. If possible, sleep when your baby does.

Have you tried feeding her baby cereal at night? Babys tend to get their DAYS and NIGHTS mixed up especially when Day light savings time comes up. All I can say is just keep trying to keep her to a schedule she will eventually get used to it, trust me. Just Keep at it! & Just wait it out!

Do not let her hear any noise or see any light. Your best bet is to give her a bit of milk, not warm. Also, I advise you to rub her back while she is laying down until she falls asleep. Hope this helps, take care.
