It's a myth, right up there with 'liberal media bias'.

PC is just another attempt by the left wing Nazi's to squelch public discourse. If you're still so naive that you believe that the left wing lunatics are really the Party of the People then you ought to read the Owen-Glass Act and how the so-called Party of the Little Guy sold out American economic sovereignty to a privately held corporation. Most liberals will never have the courage to read the actual law itself and find out just how Satanic their Party is.

If you're still so naive that you think the use of the word Nazi and liberal are incongruent then you need only look at the facts of where the liberal movement gets their public policy proposals and who finances the liberal movement. All the gun proposals that the Democratic Party supports are straight out of Adolf Hitler's playbook as is political correctness.

The same is true for who finances the liberals. George Soros was a Nazi sympathizer but even the ACLU was founded, and got it's financial start, by and from Nazi's.

What does this have to do with political correctness? PC is just another way to stifle free speech and to ridicule public debate. It's a blatant attempt to get everyone "in line" with liberalism.

If the Demonrats actually cared about the average American they would promote openess and equality in reality rather than merely repeat those words and support public policies that oppose those concepts. If they cared about the financial well-being of Americans they would support the prohibition of the Federal Reserve which is the privately owned corporation that was mentioned previously.

The fact that the liberals will never do so is indicative of their ulterior political motives and agenda. The fact is, that many Americans are gullible. They believe what they've been told by the media, some in government, academia and others. Joseph Stalin was certainly right about one thing. "Tell a lie long enough and soon enough most people will believe that lie."

The real question here is why do liberals attempt to silence the free speech, guaranteed by the United States Constitution, when they disagree because of their political agenda? I guess when most Demonrats "swear to uphold and defend the Constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic" they take that oath lightly.

Political correctness(PC) is the attempt to avoid offending people and to prevent stereotypes. Very good when it first became popular during the Civil Rights movement.

PC is now trying to eradicate religion from society, trying to force people to not recognize things, and trying to make people never feel offended. People never learn if someone is never offended. Think about it this way, in America, American history classes don't even talk about the Vietnam war anymore, why? Because the reason we went was for French Imperialism, so people may think that hurts the US's reputation by saying that in a public school

PC warfare=how to lose to anyone

Political correctness is a method used by politicians to gain votes .It may be morally wrong it may be costly it may be sucking up to minority groups or migrant or religious groups but it is sure aimed always at gathering votes. No longer do some political parties have to justify their existence by their performance they can be reelected by having the minority groups leaders out front handing out their how to vote cards to the members of their Ethnic group .Politlical correctness goes hand in hand with Multiculturism . I call it Multi Culturing.

I don't mind political correctness, I can express my own opinions and possibly use terms that are not kosher in a private forum, however in public it is important to not use and derogatory, or oppressive term when la belling a person, lifestyle or cultural group.

You are essentially trying to spare people's feelings, or refrain from putting labels on a person, or even portraying an institution as having a private or spiritual affiliation. Keeping everything balanced and not taking side, in other words completely sitting on the fence in a public form with regards to aforementioned circumstances only lends to sparing the feelings of others and showing respect for there identities and traditions.

Political correctness is going to great lengths not to offend anybody. Political correctness in speech = not saying what you really think/mean. Political correctness in policy (like forbidding people from saying Merry christmas in schools so as to not offend non-christians) is unamerican.

Political correctness, I think, gets in the way of truth and action. So concerned are people to ensure that noses don't get out of joint, that they sugar coat their words and actions...to the point of ineffectiveness.

I couldn't begin to explain or understand why this is such a concern to conservatives, versus liberals. And I don't think this needs to be a partisan discussion. It is an issue for the country...and needs to be addressed. It is equivalent to tying a leader's hands, and expecting him to do the job without them. PC has gotten way out of control and is now a detriment to this and all other countries.

They are referring to the manipulation of language in order to elicit emotional response. However, the conservatives are quite guilty of this themselves. Think of their terminology: "pro-life", "death tax", "tax relief", "family values"... etc. All are meant to turn off the thinking part of your brain and turn on the knee-jerk emotional part. It's called "framing the debate", that is, making people feel that their side is right about a debate via limiting the scope of the debate by use of language. Liberals are also catching on to this trick as well, as we will probably see in the 2008 election.

As for me, I think it's all dishonest, but unfortunately it wins votes.

Too many liberals (edit: and conservatives) believe they have a right to not be offended. That destroys freedom of expression and is not exactly conducive to the spread of truth.
