I have an old '75 Honda MT250.

For 20 years it has been eating up hills, AND runing on the highway (although it IS close to redline at 70 mph).

Easy to fix, almost indestructable (couple of pegs have a new shape of their own choosing tho, and I tell myself that the headlamp looks better with that flat edge on one side.) and even comes with a built in spare spark plug when the hot one fouls.

On the downside, it smokes like a SOB for about 2 minutes when it first fires up and it only holds about a gallon of gas which gets me in trouble some times if I don't watch it.

Yamaha YZ450F, 2004. The most brutally accelerating bike on the track.

In my case it is street legal, small enough for me to run a mile with what's in fuel line, ride in snow, let's me slide it thru' low road gates, ride from The Great Salt Lake to San Francisco and back using the Interstate, follow a bulldozer through muddy woodlands, mount shovel/pickaxe/wood saw above rear wheel and GPS at handlebar. Keeps my weekly fuel cost under eight dollars. Yam-a-ha gets it done. Slow bro', tho'.

Honda CR125 or CR250. I like the new ones with the aluminum frame 1998 and up I think.
