Not all of the web is sticky. The spider travels on the threads of the web which aren't sticky thus avoiding getting caught in its own web.

each spider knows which parts of it's own web is sticky and which parts are not. Its like saying you built a booby-trapped house, and you know where exactly to go in case of emergency and where not to step.
