the shower is the safest place, all the pipes make it stronger. if you dont have a shower (only have a tub) then go to a doorway. there is extra wood there so it would be stronger.
if you have an in-ground basement and arent at risk for flooding, go there.

You have the wrong idea about modular homes and have confused them with HUD-code double-wide homes. Modulars are stick-built in a factory instead of on-site, and are routinely set on foundations with either a basement or a crawl space. They typically have more wood in them than a site-built home and are stronger because they must withstand being hauled to the home site. I live in one and I would go to our basement wine cellar which is located completely underground, directly below a concrete porch.

Basement... it's an old house with a nice cozy basement, I'll be content down there till it blows over... if any body needs a place to stay, there's a pull out couch and W.C.
It's a helluva lot more comfortable than the closet. ;)
