Dear Friend,
I understand that you are asking this question after receiving an email stating that you have won something in some lottery or sweepstakes etc, with ''COGRATULATIONS''.You know that you never entered this competition or I mean participated in the lottery. Then how could you expect to win without participation?
This is absolute FAKE and SCAM..Please dont open such mails ,which try to obtain your personal information,by which, you may lose ,some data or money in your bank account etc.don't give scope for such a thing.Dont be attracted by this type of emails about EASY MONEY.Similarly emails telling YOU HAVE WON LAPTOP ,IPOD etc etcemails...Please don't get cheated.Immediately delete such mails.Never give your personal information, by filling the forms etc after opening the mail.

If you received an email stating that you won a sweepstakes that you don't remember entering, it is likey a scam. If you contact the organization that sent the message, do not give them any personal information, and do not agree to pay any money up front. If they ask for this you are dealing with a scam artist who is likely attempting to steal your identity, gain access to your bank account(s), or simply get you to send them some free money. Hope this helps.

Your question gives us no idea of what particular sweepstakes you are talking about. Some are legitimate and some aren't.
In any case don't send any money and contact your Better Business Bureau or equivalent organization to find out if the particular sweepstake you are talking about is fraudulent or not.

If it's an online sweepstake that you receive via e-mail and you are 100% sure that you didn't join any events like that, most probably, it's fake.

I guess this is an e-mail you've received saying you've won a prize. Happens all the time and it's always a scam. Delete it.

If you are asked to make some kind of deposit or payment in order to claim the prize, it is likely to be a scam. Don't fall for it. ...Also don't reveal your bank account or pin number.
