I was listening to a comedian who was talking about cults. He asked why no one in a cult ever seems to have common sense. This got me to thinking. If I were into cults I would never feel anyone would fall for such bull sht. I think pretty much everyone is smart. Is this a mistake? Am I overestimating the intelligence of people? I mean I recognize that there are some less than genius types among us but it is starting to seem like they represent a bigger part of the population than I thought.

In Response to Banana: The ironic thing is that their attempts to help these kids is hurting them worse than not helping them. Monority kids and all kids are smart and do not need white Americans to condecend to them.

Without addressing your details, I suggest you know that intelligence is subjective and relative. What may be more vaild, important, and useful, is what "Knowledge" and "Wisdom" is gained and retained from any level of intelligence.

I have a measured genius IQ, but by no means do I consider myself one. I have also LOST as much as I've gained in the process of evolving, aging, and filing or discarding knowledge,,,at least on the surface of my corrugated brain.

AND with no offense at all, the greater mistake for anyone might be to THINK they are more "intelligent" than another and use it abusively.

maximum of those questions are good judgment depending. also they're in retaining with very previous arguments which have under no circumstances ever been replied. One question is instantly aimed in the route of why God does no longer miracle amputees new limbs, no count how a lot you pray. yet another is about the accuracy of the Bible. the traditional answer we get for that has been given in that it calls for careful study and some inventive interpreting. most of the questions are not to any extent further directed at college professors. Many questions are throw aways meant in common words to commence someone asking the different questions, seed questions in case you pick. If i tried to stipulate an finished question about the difficulty of Evil and the Catholic and Calvinist handle it it does no longer slot interior the question field. no longer the Yahoo question field or the *question bins* of maximum Christians. an similar is authentic of countless the questions which will be requested. So common questions that with any luck disclose the logical or historic issues are frequently the most valuable. most of the hardcore Christers are previous the attain of reason in any case. you may tell through absolutely the irrelevance of the solutions that they positioned up. So, If God is all understanding and dictated the bible and the historic past of the planet, why did he no longer element out the Dinosaurs, or clarify Plate Tectonics. What we ended up with somewhat of the way it extremely works develop into "God works in mysterious strategies, and how dare you question God's works!" If the questions are so common why are they so not person-friendly for the believers to really answer them Atheist seem extra smart in retaining with countless analyze carried out over the past century. that is a measured outcome from nicely designed surveys and polls. seem up "The Steve project"

Yes, it's a bit idealistic and unrealistic. It's like saying you can trust everyone or everyone is good. Everyday our world proves the opposite. It may be a nice theory but that's all it is - theory.

Many people caught up in cults are there because of some emotional manipulating control freaks. They didn't just jump into a boiling pot of water, so to speak. Most victims of cults were in a vulnerable place and got coaxed into hanging out with these evil people. Gradually the water got hotter and hotter and before they knew it they were stuck. Very tragic and tough. Getting out is super hard because they break you down emotionally and brain-wash you. There are unsafe people out there who approach others like wolves in sheep's clothing. We need to beware!

Look around. The "dumbing down" of America has been going on for a long time. The grading curve is forced backwards to allow little Rufus and Juan a place in the mainstream that they cannot achieve otherwise. People accept marginal results. Jobs go overseas to hungry third world nations and Americans get cheap TVs and crack cocaine.

i believe everyone is intelligent in some aspect of life. They could be highly creative - this is intelligence. They could have very good street smarts - this is a type of intelligence. They could the kindest, most open person you've ever met - this is intelligence. It all depends on how you define intelligence, and i certainly believe it shouldn't just be defined by a person's intellectual and 'book-smarts' as it so often is.

Intelligence has little to do with cults, religion, philosophy or anything else that has to do with "belief". Instead, marvel at the human ability to hold two (or more) opposing beliefs in equal validity.

Based on my life experiences and opinion, not everyone is intelligent. Mental disease and brain damage are reality, as are people who refuse to think about thinks.

Could it be your confusing the two words 'ignorant' and 'intelligent' ? Couldn't a person be an intelligent person, but be 'ignorant' of some facts?

no it's not until you speak to them, then you can determine if they have common sense or intelligence and filter out the ones that are idiots.
