How do you configure a wireless router on PC 1 to work with the wireless adapter on PC 2??

you should have adapters in both pcs configured to the wireless router. You should log into the router and enable encryption then when you configure the wireless network on PC2 type in the password in the wireless network utility program, either winxp's or your wireless adapter's software program, not both.

wireless routers are generally not connected to a PC, per se. They are, rather, connected to a DSL or Cable modem, then a computer is plugged into them.

So, in summary, you need only get PC2 to "see" the wireless router (evident in the installation instructions) and it'll work fine to see PC1 from there as well as the internet.
