Okay so my periods are VERY eratic every month. I can be a few days late up to a month late...so I really don't keep track of it because what's the point if you don't honestly know when it's coming. My mom says I need to be put on birth control, but I heard that you gain a lot of weight while on birth control, and I really don't feel like losing my figure. What do you think I should do? Live with the irregular periods or gain a whole bunch of weight? PLEASE HELP!!

I honestly think brith control from doctors is a bad decision because they are very harmful to your body. If you take for a long period of time they can make yo infertile. Not to mention that it is toxic to your body.
I personally use Herbal Mexican Wild Yam. Never got pregnant while on it. I did my research and you should do your own as well to find something for you.
I am using herbal because better and when you take for longs periods is less likely to make you infertile. Wild yam makes me my period regular and less crampy.

Are you dating anyone? Are you having sex? If having sex it could be bad that you are eratic because you can get pregnant only when you ovulate which happens approx 12 days or 2 weeks prior to your period. So if you are having unprotected sex then you can get pregnant because you don't know when you ovulate.

Irregular periods aren't good for your body. One of the good things about birth control is that it will regulate your cycles, some types of birth control can even stop your periods all together. It's true you can gain weight, though I never did and I've tried EVERY kind. Some forms of birth control can help clear up your skin, too.

I found that my body couldn't handle estrogen-based birth control like the pill or the shot. I've been using NuvaRing for a year now and have had NO complications at all. My period are regular, I haven't gained any weight, and I'm not irritable.

If you're having sex you should be on birth control. Even if you're not yet, it's a good idea. Good luck to you!

I just recently got married so I started my birth control three months ago. I also was worried about the weight gain, but I didn't gain any weight. The only major problem I had was the emotional problems. I started my birth control inbetween periods and that really made me emotional for a solid month. So just be prepared to deal with changing emotions until you are really used to it. It only took me a month. Now I don't have near as bad PMS and am not near as moody.

You should definitely go on birth control, not just for your period, but just to protect you from getting pregnant, especially if you're dating at all. The weight gain can be controlled, and not everyone even has that side effect. Even gaining 2 or 3 pounds is better than gaining 8 pounds of child, which you will have to keep around for 18 years, limiting what you can do with your life. Discuss it with your OB/GYN of course, but seriously consider this.

I didn't gain any wait on the pill. I have been on it like 6 years and I also had very irregular periods. SO I would say get on the pill. IF you notice weight gain then you can always stop taking them and switch another method of birth control. I

Talk to you doctor. They make a bunch of different kinds of the pill. They say the pill doesn't make you gain weight, but everyone i know has gained weight. But i think it's also the kind they took.

My friend is on the patch and hasn't gained weight.

I am currently on kariva and have not gained any weight at all. While I was on the depo shot (I'd never recommend for anyone) I gained a lot of weight.

Talk to your doctor about this.

Are you sexually active? Do you use any other birth control? If you get pregnant you will get fat anyway, so why not be protected? If you are not sexually active and you are only going on the pill to regulate your period, I don't really know what to tell you??!! Why is your mom saying you should be put on birth control? What reasoning? A little more details please!
