As the Iraq war has cost us $380,000,000,000 debt dollars so far and Bush wants another $100,000,000 to blow up - I'm thinking, what else could we spend that money on? Any ideas?

Nice try, Travis (answer below) but $480 billion dollars is just a down payment to prevent the formation of a radical fundamentalist Muslim empire. Some argue that it's actually put a lot of money into the hands of fundamentalists that would have otherwise gone on food, clothes and McDonalds. Besides, by the time your kids finish paying for it, we'll still be waiting for your dream and have less money in the bank to deal with China.

For the record, I don't drive a 4x4 - I cycle. Hence my hard ***.
As for cash well spent - what about the billion dollars that has been 'lost' in Iraq - as in unaccounted for? I'm not saying the money was wasted - I'm just asking what else we could spend it on.
Who knows, maybe war is the answer. In fact, maybe we are wrong not to beat our kids too - violence works to bring about peace in humans doesn't it?
Slap those babies everyone!

Either use it to try to halt global warming or maybe try to go some way towards getting rid of poverty.

That's easy:
$48 billion would go to tithes (divided among a handful of churches that I have ties to)
$500 million - a $2 million dollar homeless shelter in the top 5 largest cities in each state (less in the smaller states, more in the larger ones). There's no reason to for people to be homeless in this rich of a country. And shelter's should be safe and comfortable. And people really need somewhere to turn when there's hard times.
$1 billion - a state of the art children's foster care center in the top 5 largest cities in each state (less in the smaller states, more in the larger ones). The foster care system in here in Michigan has gotten pretty bad, and children who's families neglect them should be given a comfortable and safe home, not a dangerous and/or deplorable one.
$1 billion - for myself and my family. A house, car, and erasing student loan debt for me. A vacation home, and a month long vacation. Comfortable homes for extended family. And a big family reunion/vacation.
The rest - Establish a fund repairing impoverished neighborhoods one home at a time. Pick a neighborhood, like Flint, MI, and build a house for each person who is struggling. Tear down the old house and build one brand new. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - Flint. Have people apply and explain why they need help. People who are hard working but still struggling we would tear down their house, build a new one, give them a car, and all the things the children need, and they will be required to pay the taxes and maintain a job and pay the other bills. Again, too rich of a country for people to struggle the way they do. All this money going to the war, and homeless people are dying from freezing to death. It's tragic.

the actual challenge is that both congressmembers and governors from both activities %. to artwork out authorities interest creation of their districts/states. Liberal congressmembers might want to assert they're for smaller probability-free practices at an analogous time as attempting to get a grant outdoor or plane plant of their district. some topics have replaced by way of very truth the chilly conflict. Fighter plane are turning out to be better expensive only through stealth needs. the point-9X missile can pull 40g (a human pilot can stand 9G) and see the nice and cozy temperature off the floor of the plane at an analogous time as ignoring countermeassures alongside with flares. Humvees were beefed up, sensors are turning out to be better complicated (an Apache helicopter gunner can see a pistol from 1000 yards away at evening) or maybe the squaddies are wearing round armor which did not exist throughout the chilly conflict. some stuff is junk like the U.S. extremely does no longer pick 71 submarines, optimum bases in Europe or a sparkling variety of destroyer.

I'd build a commercial replacement for Concorde ...with $400 Billion,
and with the rest I'd build youth hostels all over the world where there aren't any yet for young people to travel and engage other cultures....
and I'd keep between $20 Million and $30 Million for my family and me to have a good time :)

Well, you can get two tacos for $0.99 at Jack in the Box, so...
960,000,000,000 tacos to go, please.
Of course, there would be a LOT of pennies left over; we'll save those up for soda.
Of course, if you want to be serious, we could have completely insured 218 Million children for one year or hired 6.3 Million teachers with the 380 Million.

lets see $480 billion, well, most of the ideas that come out for universal health care are around $100-$200billion, so lets start there. Then lets tackle the homeless and education issues. How bout border security? $480billion could help in alot of areas.

I reckon with that sort of money we could buy and safeguard all the rainforests and make them national parks, and provide food, jobs and housing for all the poor and starving of the world. Probably there would be lots left to solve our NHS crisis our education crisis our transport crisis and change our policies so that we can become energy efficient whilst not contributing to global warming by our carbon dioxide output. We could also re-nationalise our utilities such as water, electricity, oil and gas taking them out of foreign hands. We could build all the nuclear power stations we need and also develop natural energy resources. There would still be money to provide subsidised energy costs. Low cost energy for us. Money could be well spent on developing transport that is not reliant on Middle Eastern oil. Hydrogen may be the answer.

To assume it is a total waste is the epitome of stupidity.
Every dollar has been well spent to fight terrorism.
People who support international Islamic terrorism have always criticised such expenditure.
These are the same people who criticise the government for not protecting them when a relation is killed by these terrorists.
Moreover, I'm sure you drive a 4 x 4.

What would I do?
I'd look at where we are TODAY and figure out what would be best for our national security. I'd say the additional money was well spent.
What would one nuke going off in a US city cost us, in money and lives?
I won't answer as to the $380 billion, because it's already BEEN spent. No use in rehashing the past.
