Go to a Merle Norman store or something similar that does free makeovers and get one. See if you like it. Tell them you want something classic and understated. If you don't like it, ask them to add just a bit of color. If you still don't like it, thank them and leave and go wash it off. Then, try another store; a different person might understand better what you're wanting.
Next, go to a higher end department store and tell a salesperson that you're wanting a more sophisticated look, but nothing stifled or older than your age ~ something classic, but perhaps with color to express your personality. Try accessorizing with things not typically used for a classic look, but which aren't going to clash with it, either. Don't adapt to a style; create your own!
You can't rebuild your outer look in a day, so have fun trying on clothes that are classically constructed (more function for the money~classic cuts don't go out of fashion quickly!) until you find just the perfect combination for you.

Try look elegant. It opens up many avenues.
Dress well . Neatly in semi formals and informals. Jeans and tops. Tops may be greens and earthy colors. Or skirts sometimes.
Use a light foundation. A neat hairstyle that is not fussy.
All the best.

WoW the one person wants you to be a whore and the other person wants you to trailor trash. DONT. I think you should be everything that goes with your body. I have the same body type as you and jeans and a T-shirt one day and mini skirt the next works. Dress like you want to. You dont need other people telling how to dress.

maybe you could try an emo look, its close to punk but still different. start off with ur basics, skinny jeans, skate shoes( like vans), then add ur own shirts and jewlery. the get your hair cut(see pics below) start out with side swept bangs and shoulder length hair. then u can do heavy brown eyeliner and ur done.

That punk look is a put off. I'd suggest the trailer trash look next.
