I we would switch system i could sell his old one games and all... He is 9 years old and very good with the GC... Wii, the games genre are more for kid. Like your child is only 9. Reports have shown that PS3 , Xbox 360 cater towards a more mature crowd. As for ps2, you could just buy it and throw it away after 1 year.

However gaming is no good for your child. Buy him more BOOKS!

I would say the PS2.

As you said their are somewhere in the neaighborhood of 1,000 games for the PS2 and the PS1 that will play on that system. Many of the best games ever made can be played on the PS2. There are many games for every age group.

You mentioned you had the gamecube system and 30 games. You should probably be able to trade that for say $30 Gamecube system and average around $5 each game so lets say a grand total of $180 trade value.

Buy a new PS2 ($129.) and you should have enough money for a few used PS2 games to get him started. I say get a new system because from my experience a used PS2 tends to have problems and the price difference( about $99 used) is not that great.

Go with the Wii... his old game will still be playable, and the Wii is supposed to be incredibly fun... This is coming from someone who has an Xbox 360 and loves it.

XBOX 360! my first game would be Viva Pinata for his age, they have plenty of good games for kids nowadays, so try it out.
