Okay, I will be 14 on July 3rd. I am sick of not having money and not being independent and not having the money to get that really cute shirt I want at the mall. lol. I live in Ohio so 14 year olds can get a job permit but the hours they are allowed to work are very limited.
1. How do I get my job permit?
2. What kind of jobs will hire me? And how will I get them to hire me as a 14 year old?
*Include anything I need to know to get a part-time job starting in probably August or September.
Thanks♥

1: Check out the links below. The first one has the details on the law in Ohio regarding the law that covers your ability to work. The second one will take you to the permit that you are required to complete in order to work.

2: That is pretty much up to what you want to do, except for certain jobs that are specifically restricted. At the bottom of the page on the first link below there is a listing of jobs you are not allowed to do.

Jobs that you would be allowed to do, that I know people your age do include:

*Retail (what about working at the store that has the really cute shirt you want, because companies often give their employees a discount for things in the store.)
*Office and clerical type work. Lots of companies hire interns during the summer to help out with filing, spreadsheets, etc.
*Babysitting - not the most glarmorus job, but easy money if you get good kids

Best of luck getting a job. The biggest thing is to find something that you enjoy doing.

ok I dont know about Ohio but i have live in three states and all states, require that u get it from your school(which you must be attending and maintaining average grades). So just go to your counselor at the school and ask them. it should be easy. and most supermarkets will hire you for the extra help. also babysitting is a way to make alot of money without the limitations or even needing a work permit. at 14 i babysat 5 children daily earning 60 a day.(charge each parent about 20-30 a day). Hope this helps. Good Luck, and its good u want to work at your age

You may be better off getting a job that pays under the table (baby sitting...doing yard work) most small employers are more than happy to employ a yong person for a cashier job and pay in cash. I'm sure your parents could help you dig up some extra chores to give you a little extra spending money. Congrats for having the initiative to look for a job!

Here's everyhting you need to know. If you can't find a specific bit of info in this comprehensive site, then call the number they provide (or email them) and they will accurately answer any question you may have. It's the Ohio department of commerce.
Here it is:http://www.com.state.oh.us/
