I just thought he was ok. Not the best and not the worst.

Did you see that the keys on his piano were wet?
I think he did a great job considering it was pouring down rain.
And he didn't have the acoustic sound that you would have in a studio.
Almost imposible to play a keyboard wet; but he did.
That takes talent.

Billy Joel sings the way he always has. Considering the rain was falling on his head and he was also playing the piano, I thought he done a good job. I would rather see Billy Joel anyday than Prince.

I thought he started pretty bad but then it got better, I mean really once you start singing the anthem with the person its just got to get good no matter what! Its an awesome feeling and he did great! Considering it was raining and all I don't think he could have been any better.

I think, but not absolutely sure it was at SBXXXXl, 2 yrs ago. I dont think he butchered it. But it seems that almost everyone who sings it at any sporting event has to jazz it up. Not sure if thats bad or good. I like to hear it sung the way it was meant to be. The anthem is a symbol of patriotism and not for the glory of the persons who sing it.

He did a great job with the anthem. He didn't overstylize it , thank God, and he sang it in a comfortable range. He didn't drag it out forever. He performed well despite the weather conditions. The halftime performance was good, too.

Real quick, for those of you that don't think he is good live, you have obviously never been to a concert of his. If you have been to a concert of his and didn't think he was a great performer, then I have to question your ability to spot great musicianship when you see it. Granted, the super bowl vocal was not one of his best, but if you ever get to a live performance of his, you will be blown away. As far as the performance total: great traditional rendition, good piano backing, ok vocal (struggled to stay in key, but hell, that's one of the hardest songs you'll ever sing). I give it a B-.

I thought he was horrible. The man is obviously losing what little voice he had. Only goes to prove that some "artists" need that studio enhancement to sound good. That, for example, is what's great about American Idol contestants. You KNOW they can sing live!

He pretty much sang it they way it should be.

He didn't take a one syllable word and make it a fifty syllable word like most do. That totally ruins it.

He was okay. Not the best, but he didn't butcher it either.

I think he's not very good live. Some artist aren't good singing live and he's one of them but he's a good singer just not live.
