In the US temp agencies do not charge the employee but rather the employer. A temp may take a job for $10 an hour but the agency is charging the company that hired the temp anywhere from $13-15 per hour for the service.

There are no temp agencies I've ever heard of or dealt with that pay anyone when not on assignment. Since the agency gets paid by the contracting company, there would be no income to the agency to pay any worker not on an assignment. Consider that the bf is misinformed and the gf stays in a job she hates because she needs the income.

Temp agencies that i have worked for are very sneeky, when you go for your initial interview they usually ask how much you expect to earn per hour. When you get offered a job the pay is usually what you said youd expect. They still take the same amount from the employer and keep the rest. So be sure to do your research before you go to an agency to be sure you don't get a raw deal!

My husband runs a driver agency and they don't take anything out of the employees' wages. They are paid a set rate per hour but the agency itself obviously receives more than the workers' hourly rate from the companies using their workers.

So say for argument's sake, the company wanted out workers is paying £10.50 per hour to the employment agency then the agency will pay the worker £9 per hour. There are no actual deductions from the workers' wages.

I was just working an assignment for $18hr and learned the agency was charging the company $33hr and wanted to charge the company 3 months salary to hire me. I wouldn't go the temp route, if your goal is to find a permanent job.

depends..
Usually, you get paid a set rate by the employment agency, with only normal deductions taken out (national insurance and tax).
the rate that the agency charge the employer for you is a LOT higher than what you get... so you might consider *that* a deduction, however you wouldn't necessarily ever see that figure (in fact they _wouldn't want_ you to see that figure)

Contrary to popular beleif, temp agencies do NOT take money from YOUR wages, they are paid extra by the client on top of your money. so often candidates think they pay our fees, but its the client, not them. You can't alter or affect the margins agencies charge, and the figures are nothing to do with you or any of your business, its the corporate relationship between the agency and the client.

most temp agencies i have worked with either charge no fee or an initial fee upfront. so possibly it will not be deducted from your check, but requested before you gain employment..
