If the mean temperatures, as recorded around the world have gone up 1 degree over the last century, then Global Warming is not a hoax. Even George Will agrees that happened. The disagreement is over whether something can be done about it. That would be greenhouse gasses. He claims there really is not anything we can do about it. I tend to agree with him, it is either too late or ineffective. Best start looking at how to handle climate change rather than trying to stop it.

So no, I am not buying what you are selling.

I think that there is reason for debate whether there is unidirectional global warming or whether the average warming in recent times is a cyclic phenomenon. No matter whether it is a hoax or a reality, the finite nature of fossil fuels and the fact that men cannot live in an atmosphere of smog would seem to cry out for an improvement in the overall living habits of humans as a whole. There is nothing wrong with improving one's relationship with the Earth, and thereby keeping a better balance between Man and Nature. Personally, I believe that men will be the first to reap the consequences of their bad ecology, and that the Earth will heal once Man has destroyed himself by his own hand.

This does not mean I am mad to run out and buy the first so-called defenses against global warming devised by the hucksters eager to cash in on this craze. Even if it is a hoax, is it so wrong to revise one's standards to make the air cleaner and keep poisons out of our bodies in the long run? I applaud any reasonable attempt to live in an ecologically sound manner, as long as it is done with discernment.

Of course it is, in the sixties climatologists predicted that the ice caps were growing, & another ice age is on the way. In the early '90's the hole in the ozone layer was going to give us all skin cancer. Now "Global warming" is the new boogeyman. If you noticed the findings last week in Paris were worded as "in all probability" global warming is being caused by human activity. They were "90% sure". Sounds like a good escape clause to me.
If this were a real threat, then wouldn't government address the real polluters like big oil & chemical companies? As you stated; consumers will pay in the long run. Gotta keep those scientists working, so they're around when there's a real crisis!

I know that global warming is not a hoax. The debate is over the role of humans in the warming of the globe. I wish to err on the safe side of the argument and do something about it.

I always do my own research and what I've found out is Global Warming is happening.

It's happened before and it's happening now....only difference is this time the planet is heavily populated with people.

The earth's temperture is proven to be rising- a whole degree. The crap is the stuff like "An Inconvienient Truth" Which blames the whole thing on pollution. That is just a ploy to get him elected. If he tells everyone that it is because of humans polluting and he promises to stop it, he thinks people will elect him.

Yes, Jibba. However, the belief in man-made global warming might lead people to some positive changes. That's why I hate to discourage it even though it is false science.
I hope it will foster an interest in alternative energy, replanting our forests, and eventually getting us off the foreign oil addiction.
What do you think? The myth of man-made global warming could be a benefit??

Could you tell me why or how anyone could or would benefit from making up such an elaborate hoax? Then I will believe it is a hoax. This is to serious to joke around with.

When you find yourself trying to keep your head above water don't call for help, as it's just a hoax, and don't buy a life jacket because they just may try to sell you one.

But there is nothing wrong with being better stewards of the earth either way.

I would love for us to not have to buy oil from the mid-east!

Peace!
