No, the only thing that can cure an ear infection is antibiotics.

You may have it confused w/ pet care, they say that you can use vegitable oil to clean out pets ears not people, but I'm not sure how true that is.

A bacterial ear infection can be cured by something that kills bacteria. As far as I know, olive oil does not. If an ear infection gets out of hand, it can cause deafness. So if you /your child has an ear infection, get antibiotics.

I understand your concern about overmedication. There is a preventive massage you can do to avoid ear infections. Make a V of your index and middle finger and place it on your cheek so that the ear is cupped in the V. Now, with some pressure, pull down the v into a Y on the side of your neck. You will feel a sensation of swallowing and that will drain the pressure on the ears.

Again, this is only to prevent. To address an existing ear infection - go the antibiotics route.

Ear Ache Olive Oil

Yes, it's a natural homeopathic remedy that I use as I am prone to ear infections. Ingredients: olive oil, garlic, cotton balls, and an ear ache.
Instructions: cook olive oil and garlic together, once the garlic is cooked well and the oil is hot, remove the garlic, if you have chopped garlic use a strainer. then get a cotton ball and dip it into the hot oil, give it a second so it's not too hot, and place it in your ear. Leave it there for a while, you can even sleep with it on your ear.

I also use Collidal Silver and Wally's Ear Oil. You can do google searches online to get further information on these. A warm heating pad or a hair dryer on low heat lightly blowing over the ear -- NOT directly into will also ease your pain.

Personally I have used Olive Oil before and it works just fine. A few drops of olive oil or mineral oil can provide temporary relief or even get rid of a mild ear infection. Warm it up like a baby's bottle under hot tap water for a few minutes. Test the oil first .it should be about body temperature and apply it with an ear dropper. Trust me it works! And the warmth is so soothing.

I think that the olive oil is just a base for the good stuff. I know that garlic is a natural antibiotic so you would have to make a solution with the oil and garlic. But you know, there are wonderful products already made. You can buy ear drops at a health food store, if your like me and dont want to mess with making stuff up yourself. I have always used the stuff from the health food stores on my children growing up and even used myself at times when needed. Just a couple drops and cotton in the ear for a day or two seems to do the trick. I am not opposed to going to the Dr. but I always try to heal things myself for a couple of days and then if I can't I will go to a Dr. But I can honestly say, we have never had to see a dr. for an earache because it has always worked.

That to me is an old remedy. I remember my grandmother doing that to me when I was a young child with an ear ache . I had lots of those when little . I also remember sitting next next to a hot stove with a sewn in a linen pouch of chamomile tea and pressing it against my ear . All these things are not worth much. Please get professional help. Ear infections are serious . Oil in the ear isn't gonna cure it . Get anti -biotics from a doctor .
You have my sympathy I know it hurts a lot .
Good Luck

No it can`t cure an ear infection but it will give some relief from the pain while you`re waiting for the antibiotics to take effect. Warm the oil slightly before inserting the cotton ball.

Rather not...but try the following remedy:

Drop garlic oil or lobelia extract into the ear and gently massage. Repeat four to five times a day.

Apply ice to the ear to constrict the blood supply to the area and reduce the pain.
Take the herb hops in capsules or tea to heal an earache.
