I watched very closely and rewound a few times, because I knew I would want to see him again. I know he WAS actually singing, not lip syncing. I wonder though if they pre recorded the music. I live 2 miles away from Dolphin stadium and it was raining ALL DAY. And it was raining hard, while he was on. So since we knew in advance, that it would rain, they may have done that.

Totally live! I have seen him in concert and he can rock it! Even people that don't love Prince admit he's an excellent musician and performer. Besides, the last two halftime shows were boring, and the people of their generation were asleep before halftime anyway!

I was trying to figure this out also. Wouldn't it have been dangerous to have electric guitar and mics in the rain? I kept looking to see if looked like he was lip synching, and he looked to be right on with the singing, but I did notice a few times when he wasn't playing guitar and the music continued. (I know there may have been other guitars playing, but it seemed like it was a continuation of the lead guitar). ???

I noticed that during his performance there would be the sound of a lot of chords being hit on his guitar but if you watched his fingers, he wasn't playing! I had my questions about it being live also.

Live. He would never lip sync. He considers himself an artist.

Whether he was lip syncing or not I don't know, I didn't watch that closely. But he was live. No doubt about that.
