What can I do about it. I tried to buy an external hard drive and dumped most of my programs but it is still running slower. Does it have anything to do with the RAM memory.

Go to CONTROL PANEL, Click SYSTEM, Click ADVANCE, then Then in the Performance window click SETTINGS, then click ADVANCE, then under Virtual Memory window, chick CHANGE. There is where you set your virtual memory. There you set it up higher. Mine is set at 756 Mb min, and 1512 MB max. Also there is a system managed box. If this is checked, then do the custom like I did.

After you do this then you need to set these two sites in your bookmarks. pcworld.com and cnet.com. These two will keep you aware of the computer world, plus both sites have ALL the info you need on computers.

After you study and see what virtual memory is, you will see the wannabe answers below are kind of hogwash.

It means that you are running too many programs/applications at the same time. So it's not the hard drive space that is affected it's your memory. I would advise you to buy and install memory. This is not expensive and will be a good investment to support future upgrades.

Cheers!

Virtual memory includes hard disc space. Get a larger hard disc or eliminate stuff you don't need to get more space.
