After having surgery I have my usual scar but I also have darker tissue around the scar. Is there any way to lighten the darker skin around the scar or is it possible to get rid of the darker tissue all together? It is on my ankle and very noticeable in the spring and summer months when wearing shorts.

usually with the passage of time darker tissues become lighter.
you may apply any bleaching cream ...Eg... FEM bleaching cream

If you haven't had dark circles around your eyes, but have noticed they have become gradually darker, I think I would rather find out why! There are several reasons why we get dark circles around our eyes, sometimes it is from 'lack of sleep' due to stress or tension of some kind. But a poorly functioning liver can also cause dark circles, so I would first be concerned as to the cause of this problem. There are numerous things you can do for this, but if it is an underlying health reason, very little will rid you of the dark circles other than a cosmetic concealer. If your liver is struggling for some reason I think I would see a gastrointerologist to be checked out.

I have heard of using Cocoa Butter and Vitamin E both for this purpose before....never tried them but wanted to support the other 2 answers that mentioned these solutions.
Love the idea of photographing before so you can see results.

There are whitening jel or cream available. Or try break up a Vitamin E capsule, & spread on the scar lightly every night. This is not overnight result. It take weeks to see result. To compare later result, take a photo first.

you may want to try Palmer Coco butter line it works well I use it all the time I've noticed old scares that I use to have as almost faded away even my stretch marks are not as noticeable as they use to be to see them now is because someone would have to be right up on me trying to find them to see them they are the same color as my skin I'm able to show my med area now and don't have to worry about the stretch marks.Good Luck to you.
