I have developed a ganglion (bump) on my left wrist. I am right-handed. At first I thought it might be caused by too much knitting, but it was suggested that too much keyboarding might actually be the cause. I've heard that you can hae them surgically removed, but they tend to come back. I have also heard that sometimes they go away on their own. Any one have any luck in getting rid of them?

I had a ganglion cyst on my right hand for many years. It would get fairly big and be quite irritating then it would go down in size on its own. One folk remedy is to have some one smash it with a book! Really. I tried it but eventually it came back. I finally did have mine surgically removed and for a couple of years after the surgery I questioned the wisdom of that because the scar tissue tissue that developed seemed to be worse than the cyst itself. Now that it has be several more years since I would have to say that my hand is good and the surgery did the trick. But don't think that having it removed means instant cure. With any surgery there is trauma to the body and scar tissue. Good physical therapy afterwards will help recovery and regaining full range of motion without pain. I think you are doing the right thing by talking to some people about their experiences. Then if it is bothering you go see a hand specialist (they cover wrists too) and see what they have to say. Good luck.
